Few tips
If you have decided that you have no option but to run away from your parents then …
- Make sure you carry your passport, election id, all school/college certificates, driving license, any other official documents, any valuables that are yours, passport photos, insurance documents etc.
- Taking cash/valuables tht are not yours may lead to a case of theft being filed.
- Take postal address/phone number of the local police station
- If it is possible, write a letter to the local police station in your own handwriting before you leave, enclosing a photocopy of proof of your age ( you must be above 18 years) stating that you are leaving out of your own free will and that no one has coerced you. Also, state that you have not taken anything that does not belong to you. Or write and post this after you have left.
What documents do I need to register a marriage ?
- Proof of age -woman must be 18 years and man 21 years to register.
- passport photos – individual and joint
- proof of address
IT IS LEGAL TO LIVE TOGETHER WITH YOUR LOVER, WITHOUT GETTING MARRIED.
Is registration of marriage compulsory ?
Those belonging to different religions, wanting to marry each other must register their marriage under the Special Marriage Act. The only way to avoid registration is if either one of you converts to the religion of the other and then ceremonies that are usually conducted are performed. The advantage of registration is that there is concrete proof of marriage-the marriage registration certificate. And you are no longer governed by any religious law, but by provisions of the Special Marriage Act. If you are Hindu, your proerty rights with your original family continue, even after your marriage.
Your parents may file a missing persons complaint or put an ad in the newspaper for you. Leave a letter for them saying no one has forced you to run away. Leave or post a letter to the local police station also, saying no one has coerced you to run away, with a copy of proof of your age.

Government of India must freely give Handguns to all Inter-Caste and Inter-Religious Marriage couple so that they can protect themselves from their irrational Relatives and Casteism in the society.

My name is Kabir Mohammed Bhakka,I live in tarapur(boisar).
My problem is that I’m a Muslim and I love a girl who belong to Hindu caste.
Her name is “Karuna D. Chavan”. I talk to her parents, and they don’t want
to marry their daughter with me. My age is 30ys and her age is 27ys.
But any case she want to marry me, but her parents forcing her to marry someone else.
Even they(parents)beat her. And they put pressure on her by tell this that they will beat me
in police station. And so she can’t able to do anything.
Even her dad using political pressure so that I leave her.
I don’t want to leave her in any case. I ‘m ready to accept her.
But some how her parent pressurize not to leave. Even she(karuna) ask
me if u change your cast, may my parents get ready to marry us.
But I told her that, even doing that also your parents are not going to ready. One day,
I went to her house, her younger brother called me at 10.30pm. for talk.
But they were insisting that our cast is different. But i told them that I’m ready to
change my caste, but they were making excuses so that I can’t marry her. Later she told
me her nanaji is in her favour but that also turnout wrong.
They started to abuse her and forcing her to marry as per their wish.
But she some how fighting for me. But yesterday, they use political
pressure to show her that they can do anything bad to me.
Then also she was standing as per her wish but later they pressurize her to say no to me.
But I know she was saying that everything under pressure. In her family,
no one is in her favour.
She is alone there and may be she can commit suicide.
Even I approach Police, they abuse me and said first ypu bring that girl for her statement.
But her parents never going to let her out from house, like a prison for her.
I don’t know what to do, but I don’t want to loose her at any cost.

Her family seems to be ready to use any means to stop you from marrying her. She needs to be
strong. You should support her whatever happens, whatever she decides. It is much harder for
the girls as their trust in family gets violated completely in the name of honor. Go see “Gladiator”.
There is a scene in the end which might suggest new ideas. Important thing is not to trust
anyone connected with the families. Be open and fearless in meeting them, but question their actions keeping their intention of stopping you in mind.
Sometimes time and deception are great help. Good luck. Make sure to identify good circle of friends, plan for your life financially.
